Spring 2024 registration closes March 1st and is for spring 2024 only.

U5/U6 Program Information

Our program is designed for every child to get lots of  playing time and touches on the ball during the approximate 1 hour session.   We have licensed and experienced coaches who lead the training sessions who focus on skill development, good sportsmanship and fun.

  • Each age division practices as a group on Saturday mornings in the fall (September-November) and spring (April-June). The U5 age division at 9am and U6 age division at 10:15am at   Stringham Park – each player should bring a size 3 soccer ball and water to enjoy during breaks – a uniform shirt will be provided and each player should wear cleats and shin guards with long socks to cover the guards.
  • Sessions are 50 minutes long – broken down into 2 sections – roughly 25 minutes for practice and 25 minute to play games.
  • During the practice – a licensed coach with the help of parent volunteer coaches will lead the players through fun games and exercises to develop dribbling, passing, defending, and shooting skills. Each player should have their own size 3 soccer ball to insure lots of touches on the ball.
  • During the mini-matches – players will be organized into groups of 3 or 4 players per team and assigned a field and volunteer coach – no waiting on the sidelines – lots of playing time for each player.
  • Play is 3 v 3 or 4 v 4 – 1 defender, 1 or 2 midfielders, and 1 offensive player. Try to have the defender and the offensive player stay on their half of the field. Rotate the kids through each position in each of their 5 minute periods so at the end of the game they have played in each of the 3 positions for 5 minutes. Try to maintain the level of skills on each field in balance – shift kids between fields as necessary to maintain a healthy competitive level.
  • Coaches are permitted on the field with the primary mission to insure proper player positioning. There should be one coach per field per team. If you can step off the field and allow the kids to play later in the season that is great!
  • Goal kicks and throw ins – as directed by the coach.
  • Goalies – none for U5 or U6
  • General U5/U6 LaGrange Rules (in conjunction with FIFA rules)
  • Volunteer coaches are needed and necessary - please consider volunteering to coach - no soccer knowledge is necessary just a positive attitude and there is no cost to do so.

When you register your child in the spring/summer you are registering for both following fall and spring seasons.   Once registered you will receive information via email from the club about uniforms, and start times/dates for the upcoming season in mid August.

Your child will need to bring their own soccer ball, water, and wear shin guards and soccer cleats to Saturday morning session.
Shin guards are mandatory for the Saturday morning sessions.  No exceptions for the safety of your child. Soccer socks need to completely cover your child’s shin guards during playing time.
